Sports Award
Utility Services is proud to announce our latest recipient of our Sports Award recognizing local community driven sports groups. As a great foundation for building team work, competition, and respect for the games, we provided the Parkwood Sports Association (PSA) of Durham, North Carolina a contribution of $250 to further their efforts. We are proud to be a supporter of this organization for three years running.
Since 2009, PSA has provided a fundamental baseball and softball league for kids ages 4-12 in southern Durham, North Carolina. PSA emphasizes player development in a competitive atmosphere that fosters a strong love for the game. In this positive and supportive environment, children learn to play the games of baseball and softball while their families also participate in the league as coaches (4 per team) and volunteers.
PSA offers two divisions that play during the fall and spring. The baseball division offers T-Ball through Majors level play, and the softball division offers 8 and under (8u) through 12 and under (12u) level play. The spring league consistently averages 140 players. Approximately 100 players participate in the fall league, which focuses on baseball and softball fundamentals and instruction.
Generally, PSA offers the following each season”
- 3 T-Ball teams,
- 4 Rookie baseball (8u) teams,
- 4 Minor baseball (10u) teams,
- 3 8u softball teams, and
- 2 10u and 12u softball teams.
